A New Skylight for the New Millennium
The Collimating Tubular Skylight (U.S. Patent No. 6,363,667)
A Revolution in Daylighting!
ENTECH, Inc., has invented a totally new concept in daylighting, a collimating tubular skylight (unit on the right in the sketch above). This new concept accepts natural light from all parts of the sky, and delivers this light, with unprecedented optical efficiency, to the work area beneath the skylight. This redirection of the light from all parts of the sky to the work area beneath the skylight is called collimation.
Previous skylights, including tubular skylights (unit on the left in the sketch above), lack this collimation feature, and deliver much of their light output outside of the desired work area beneath the skylight. Previous skylights are also inefficient, due to the large number of reflections required to deliver high-incidence light to the interior of the building. ENTECH's new unit overcomes both of these deficiencies of prior skylight technologies.
World's Brightest Tubular Skylight
ENTECH has performed numerous side-by-side tests of the new collimating tubular skylight versus competing skylights under all sorts of sky conditions. These tests have confirmed a 200%-400% performance advantage for the new collimating tubular skylight, for the same size hole (penetration) in the roof! Even more important than the revolutionary performance, the quality of the light within the work area is outstanding, as shown by the demonstration units in ENTECH's conference room, pictured above.
